2010 Youth Mission Trips
"Undeserved" is the theme for this years Group Workcamps mission trip.  This year Fountain Park Church youth will be heading in two different directions.  The middle school group will be serving with Group's Week of Hope division in St. Louis. MO.  They depart on Sunday, June 20th.  The senior high students will be returning to Savannah, GA on Saturday, July 10th for a week with Group's Workcamps division.  The senior high students were in Savannah in 2005.

Workcamps focus is serving a community by offering services related to home repair.  The Week of Hope focuses on community service projects.  Both camps are opportunities for youth and adults to allow God to work in them and through them and experience the mighty power of God.  These experiences are amazing times when participants connect with their Savior in very real and meaningful ways.

Thanks to the support of the congregation and the hard work of the students, we have been blessed to offer these trips to students at no cost to their families for 10 years.

Sunday School

At Fountain Park UM Church we offer a variety of Christian Educational opportunities for every age from 3 years old to 103 years old. The Sunday School hour is from 9:45-10:45 each Sunday morning with a few exceptions for ALL AGES. The Sunday school program is taking a summer break from June 6 - September 12, 2010

We offer a Middle School Class and a High School Class meeting from 9:45-10:45 each Sunday from September through June (a few exceptions) with different curriculum used by each class.

We offer a “Ride to Sunday School” through our FPUMC Van Shuttle Service. We will pick up within our “neighborhood radius” for Sunday School and take home from Sunday School with 2 Approved Adult Safe Sanctuaries Drivers.

Youth Group

Fountain Park Church has an active youth group for students in grades 6-12. The purpose of these groups is to offer the youth of our church a
more vital role in the life of the church and to help strengthen students walk with Christ. In addition to providing opportunities for spiritual growth
and development, our goal is provide a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere where young people feel they belong. Through meetings and
activities, students are challenged in their faith lives to come to the understanding that God is in the here and now--real and alive and that His
desire is to be in a relationship with them through His Son, Jesus.

Time is spent in nearly every meeting having devotions or Bible study. Our groups go on mission trips each summer. We sponsor a child in Haiti. We have done yard work for the elderly. We have raised money for Habitat for Humanity and World Hunger. In the past, our group has participated in Shantytown (a Sheboygan experiential fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity) and in the Crop Walk.
We have participated in other fundraising, such as the making and selling of Pizza and also the making and selling of pies, to pay for mission
trips and Christian experiences such as concerts and Nightmare (a realistic "walk-through" experience in Marshfield, WI, presented near Halloween, which helps youth understand nearly first-hand, consequences of common poor choices that teens and young adults make). We want the youth
to realize that it honors God to make others more important than ourselves. We are blessed with much and have much to give to others.

Currently our youth are also working on a drama ministry that will be introduced to the congregation during our contemporary service on Easter
morning.

Our 10th Annual Dinner and Dessert Auction was on March 13. This annual event is one of our major fund-raisers for summer mission trips.
The meal cost is only $5 and this year’s menu included beef tips, mashed potatoes, a salad, dinner rolls, and vegetable. All that for the low cost
of $5. Following dinner, each table bids on the dessert they will share. Desserts are donated by members and friends of the congregation and
there is a lot of pride at stake when the bidding begins! This is a great time of fellowship and fun for all who attend. For information, contact the
church office. Our regular youth group meeting time is Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 6:30.

Confirmation

Confirmation is a two-year program for youth in 7th and 8th grades. Older students who have not had any teaching about the church and its beliefs
and doctrines are encouraged to enroll as well. Students are paired with mentors who are adult members of the church (generally someone not
related to the student). The confirmation class meets every Wednesday at 5:30pm during the school year. There is a supper for students, parents,
and mentors at 5:00pm on the first Wednesday of the month. Homework, memory verses, class attendance and participation, Saturday or Sunday worship attendance, and Sunday School attendance are required. The goal of Confirmation Class is to ground the student in basic Christian
doctrines, establish the habit of daily Bible reading, equip them for active participation in worship and the life of the church, and to provide ample opportunity for the student to receive Christ as personal Lord and Savior. Confirmation students take turns as acolytes in the Sunday morning
worship services, lighting the candelabras at the start of the service. Confirmation Sunday, when these students become full members of the
church, is usually the third Sunday in May.
