On July 11, 2010, the FPUMC congregation welcomed their new pastor, Steve Kaehr.
Pastor Steve and Julie Kaehr have come to Fountain Park Church from First United Methodist Church in Oshkosh where Steve was appointed as an intentional interim pastor since January of 2007.
Steve is a Wisconsin native but attended seminary and was ordained in the North Indiana Conference. Steve served churches in the North Indiana Annual Conference for twenty years before moving back to Wisconsin in 2005.
Prior to retirement, Steve's dad, Jerry, taught instrumental music in the Kimberly school district. He is also a graduate of Lakeland College in Sheboygan County. Steve's mother, Linda, spent the last ten years of her working career as the pre-need coordinator at Wichman funeral home in Appleton, WI. Steve's parents are currently enjoying retirement in Chula Vista, CA.
Steve's maternal Grandfather was an ordained EUB minister and served churches in Ohio and Indiana before retiring in 1968. He was also an Army chaplain in WWII.
Julie is an Indiana native and was raised in Indianapolis. Her father, the Rev. Paul Hartsaw, worked as a research scientist for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals. Her father was also an ordained EUB pastor and served for fifteen years on the pastoral staff of Brookside EUB Church in Indianapolis. Julie's father and mother are both deceased. Julie has a teaching license and has taught high school English in Indiana and Wisconsin. The last three years she has been a substitute teacher in Oshkosh, Winneconne and Omro, WI. Julie is an avid bibliophile and thinks that the invention of the Kindle is a sign of apocalypse! She has already obtained her Sheboygan library card....Julie is an excellent cook who also enjoys gardening, home canning and the music of Bruce Springsteen!
Steve and Julie have four children: Andy and his wife, Claire live in Lakeville, MN. Tim and his wife, Whitney, also live in Lakville, MN. David is a junior at Purdue University and their daughter, Amy, will begin studies at Colorado State in the fall of 2010. Completeting the family is a much loved and over-indulged yellow lab named Buddy.
Prior ro moving to Oshkosh, Steve and Julie lived in Lakewood, WI, and still own and enjoy a retreat home there. Steve spends his limited free time listening to Big Band Jazz, reading, cutting firewood, woodworking, gardening, and hunting and fishiing. Steve also enjoys outdoor writing; his latest article, "Real World Deer Cartridges," will appear in Gun Hunter magazine (a publication of BuckMasters) later in 2010.
